I need help with this ''
I've tried a lot of various stuff to get a copied DVD to play on my standalone mustek v520 player, this player is compatible. After some success I started receiving coasters. Only thing I know for certain is that the mustek plays all previous backups ok. I tested all of them with Decrypter and noticed that the track path was different for those that played well on Mustek and those that are coaster.
I've copied the info of a coaster here:-

Current Profile: DVD+R
Disc Information:

Erasable: No
Sessions: 1
Sectors: 2,116,112

Time: 470:16:62 (MM:SS:FF)
Physical Format Information:

Maximum Read Rate: Not Specified
Number of Layers: Reserved (0x03)
Track Path: Opposite Track Path (OTP)
Linear Density: 0.267 um/bit
Track Density: 0.74 um/track
And here is the info of a backup that plays ok:-
Device Information:
Current Profile: DVD+R
Disc Information:
Status: Complete
Erasable: No
Sessions: 1
Sectors: 2,067,136
Size: 4,233,494,528 bytes
Time: 459:23:61 (MM:SS:FF)
Physical Format Information:
Book Type: DVD+R
Part Version: 1
Disc Size: 120mm
Maximum Read Rate: Not Specified
Number of Layers: 1
Track Path: Parallel Track Path (PTP)
Linear Density: 0.267 um/bit
Track Density: 0.74 um/track
you can see the difference in the bottom 4 lines of both sets of information.
I don't know why the machine started throwing out coasters, it seemed to happen after I forced a region 1 disc, (Decrypter ripped the files ok, then I used Ifoedit to do a bit of stripping and Rempeg to do its stuff, remuxed in Ifoedit, VTS sectors done and IMG image (old one not the Nero updated one), finished off the disc with Decrypter). After all this and more Coasters, I am thinking there is something amiss so I debugged the system and started again with it. All stuff re-installed and try again. Still same coasters coming out. I'm lost now.
Sorry for taking up your time but does anyone know why the path is going from Parallel Track Path (PTP) to opposite tracks. Could this be why all my good back up are PTP and all coasters are OTP. And what about the number of layers? Both discs are same brand. Infiniti DVD+R £2.00 each
I have 16 coasters, all different, all different ripping techniques, all different burning techniques etc.
I have 40+ backups that play perfectly. Again using different techniques.
Curious thing though is all coasters play perfect on PC, using win DVD or windows media player.
Only difference between them is what Decrypter shows above!!
Please help me shed a little light on this.
Machine bits and bats.
AMD XP2000, 256ram (swapped during test), Sony DRU120a writer, XP Professional OS (no updates installed or SP1 another test to see if it was a bug), EagleTEC M830 MB, Creative Personal Cinema Graphics. Had different graphics in as well.
A few things I've also tried: different IDE cables, Sony Dru is a master on IDE 1 (HDD master on IDE 0) CD-rom slave on IDE 1, Tried CD-ROM slave on IDE 0 no difference. MB chipset has all drivers from SIS installed, No errors or conflicts what so ever.
Many thanks in advance for reading this. Any other info I'll gladly receive.
