View Full Version : Multiangle Compilation problem

I am trying a new thing on my first movie with multiangle (Armagedon). Can't figure out what this message means...
This movie has one PGC in the main, which consists of VobIds 1,2,4,5,7,8,10...for angle one, 1,3,4,6,7,9,10...for angle two. I used DoItForYou and striped everything by VobIds.
In Scenarist I imported all those tracks under PGC1 then hit compile...well, I get this message.
Warning Audio gap is 1 frames "C:\a4\VTS__04_A1V01-80ch6English.AC3".
Warning The Audio gap is filled by repeating last audio frame
Error This VOB duration (10708.5 frames) is not multiple number of frame.
Error dvd_mux : DoMux Multiplexing Error
Error Terminated Multiplexing (arma41.scn-VTS__04_V02_1.mpv-t_t.vob.0).
Error The VOB duration must be even number of fields.
That particular audio can be played flawlessly in PowerDVD, so kinda lost there. Also, the thing about VOB duration is way above my comprehension...If I get rid of the sound in that track and also the extra angle in VTS_04_V02_1 then I don't get this message. But that would defeat the purpose. Also, I made sure in CCE the angles have same number of frames. (I chose the smaller of the two numbers)
Can somesone put some light on those messages?

When doing multiangle, You have to check Restrict auto I frame insertion and Close all GOPs. See http://www.doom9.org/mpg/cce-extras.htm Step 2. It's documented right there in the guide :D
Glad to hear you're enjoying the vobid demux feature.

Thanks for the reply...unfortunately, I already did that in CCE for all VobId's and still get that message.
P.S. Yes...it is a lot of work! You weren't kidding

Oh I know what it is! You didnt change the sizes in the .ecl. Edit your ecl and make sure all angles have the same number of frames in them. I made this error once too. I thought this was in the guide... maybe it's not. Anyway, that's what worked for me.

Well, I did that too... For those with two angles, in .ecl file, I chose the ones that have less number of frames and copied the number of frames onto the other ones.
Am I supposed to do it the other way around?

I went with the one that had the most frames myself. I don't know for sure if is your problem, but it can't hurt trying i guess. Also I'm not sure if you need to delete your .vaf to test this. I know lots of settings are done on the first pass only.

Well...I will give that a try. Another thing that I did differently is that I just did one pass CCE not multiple...
I don't think it would make any difference though since it only affects the quality of the video.

I'm assuming from what you've said that vobid 2/3, 5/6, and 8/9 are the ones with an angle 1 and 2. As Eyes said, if you are making changes to the encode settings, you MUST delete that VAF file before running the encode again! If you do not, it is going to make the new encode based on information that was written to the VAF with other settings. This is bad altogether and especially bad if you're changing these particular settings for trying to recreate multiple angles.
If you are certain that you have done this as well as follow the information in the guide then my only other thought is that you are recreating the structure improperly in Scenarist. If in fact, 2 & 3 are angles that go together, vobid 2 should be the first line and vobid 3 should be the second line on the same track. This track, in turn will take the place of the section referenced in the original IFO. Make certain you are recreating this structure as you see in the original.

I followed the structures of VobId's according to the original IFO.
It's one PGC with bunch of cell blocks. First cell block is just VobId 1 and the second one has VobId 2 as the first stream and VobId3 as the angle 1. etc...
So I creadted the structure right (I am pretty sure of it) but I get the same errors. What's funny is that if I create a different PGC for each track, then it compiles fine (although then I would end up with bunch of PGC's)....
Here is the message I am getting.

This frame number of 7837.5 it's complaining about is a mystery since I encoded with the following setting...

I don't understand how I end up getting that particular frame number error and also why it works if I separate each track into its own PGC but won't if they are all under the same PGC...
:(

I think I may have found the problem...
In .ecl file, I changed the "frame_last= xx" settings as well as "encode_last" when I should have just changed the encode_last settings only.

Ahh well yes, that would throw off your success! Glad you figured it out.

Eyes'Only,
No it wasn't the problem.
I think it has to do with the way I am lining up the PGC. If I put separate tracks into their own PGCs I don't get that message. Only when I put all tracks under one PGC, I get that error message. ("This VOB duration (10708.5 frames) is not multiple number of frame") When I get rid of all the angles, then it's ok...but that defeats the purpose :(
Does each track under the same PGC have to have the same number of angles?
I don't know Scenarist enough to figure that out. Are there settings I have to change in Scenarist that you can think of?

If you are still having troubles. Try this. Goto the Track Editor, Select the track. Select the video. Look at box in lower center. Increase...or decrease the duration by 1 frame. Make sure its same length for all the angles. This has worked for me, but it wasnt with multiangles. So give it a shot, maybe it will work, maybe not.

Definitely!
To quote the guide... "Now there’s one more important thing to do here or Scenarist is going to start her bitching later! Create a third angle for track 7 even though it does not have one. I just dropped PGC7.2.m2v in it as a place holder. Don’t worry about doing anything special to PGC1 as it only has one angle and Scenarist won’t bitch. "

Trilight,
Originally, track 1 of the PGC (the only one) has no angle, track 2 has an additional angle. So I add another angle to track one and then compile...
It compiles now without that frame error message, but it now says that that addtional angle I put on the first track can not be linked to the second angle of the second track...Hmmm...Again it fails.
Any idea why I am getting that message? (at least a progress, I went past that first error message... :) )

How do you strip a movie, that ifoedit says the movie is in VOBIDs 1,2,3,4,5,6,5,6,7,8? I thinks it's multiangle too. Do I check remove lluv/angle points in the options, and do I strip all of the VOBIDs or just 1-6? Thanks.

Read some of the posts on this forum regarding multiangle movies. There are a lot on that issue.
You will find that you can use DVDdecryptor and DVD2AVI to strip and transcode movies. (You will have to do each VobId separately...a lot of work)
Or you can just use DoItFastForU by Eyes'Only that will automatically do all that in one fell swoop.

Actually, I found a much easier way. In DVD Decryptor, I selected angle 1 in the settings when I copied the whole movie to the hard drive. I then did things normally with ifoedit. It also worked with 007 Tomorrrow Never Dies that also has multi-angles. Selecting angle 1 in dvd decryptor fixed the whole thing.

I guess the point of my post is to keep the angle, not get rid of it...
But if it works for you, then great!

Ok, gotcha. Thanks.

I stand corrected, in Ifoedit you also need to check the box for remove lluv/pointers. Then the movie plays correctly.
