DVD Subtitles

I have a movie (vob files) in my hard disk.
I want to rip the subtitle from the vob file make some changes and
re-enter them in the vob file.
The reason is that I have some movies in english and I want to put
German subtitles in.
Tell me if there is a guide or the way to do that.

Subtitle is not in the vob files, it's in the .ifo file and I think you can see it after the ripping is over unless you disable the rip ifo out feature. And you can use the vobsub filter when you are trying to encode the movie, after a period time (Well, quite long, and you can see the humor of the vobsub writer as you move the cursor onto the progress bar.) for indexing, then you can adjust the time offset and position etc. After that, just ENCODE...:)

Sorry, the subtitles ARE in the vobs. They are images, not text. IFO contains the names and adresses of the sub streams, and maybe the timepoints. Unfortunately one should have a DVD authoring software to mux them back. IMO it is quite difficult to change the images.

As Abond stated, subtitles are bitmap images in .vob streams. The Subrip (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Subtitles/SubRip_1.14.exe) tool can extract these and OCR text so you can edit it, and, while I haven't done it, you can use it to save the text as bitmap again. Once you've got the video and audio demuxed using bbMPEG (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Vobtools/bbtool19.zip) you may be able to use IfoEdit (http://www.doom9.org/Soft21/Vobtools/Ifoedit095.zip) to rebuild the .vob files and include your new subtitle stream.

I have used all 3 of these tools before, but never for this particular purpose. These may not be the proper tools, nor the proper process.

Oh! I didn't know bbMPEG can demux vobs...

if u rename them as .mpg any demuxing software should be able to demux them. Further more u can frameserve them to Premiere for example.
