aright i have a bunch of media files that i am trying to convert to dvd format so i can burn them with my dvd burner and play them on a standalone player. anyway i used the tmpgenc wizard and followed vcdguides tutorial on divx to dvd....the result is an mpg file....shouldnt it be a vob? is there any difference? because i just assumed that since its mpg and dvds have vobs that it wont work. any help is welcomed
thnx

VOB is the container of the video/audio files, just like AVI/OGM is the container for DivX video.

For true DVD you will need to author it using an authoring program, (Scenarist, SpruceUp, Maestro or any other)This will take your MPG and create VOB's for you to burn to a DVD. Some DVD players will play an MPG file (mostly the cheaper chinese no brand ones) but most name brand dvd players will not.
