I have a couple of videos in the m2v format. Only WInDVD seems to play it, neither WIndows Media Player or any other video players play this thing. Now I want to convert them to avi. Is there a way to get TMPGEnc to play open these files so that I can convert them and is this format supported in TMPGEnc? ANd what exactly is this format? Mpeg2? Mpeg1? or what? ANy help would be greatyly appreicated.

AFAIK, an .m2v file is an elemental stream of MPEG-2 video. If you want to re-encode it as a DivX .avi file, you can merely open the .m2v file from DVD2AVI, since it supports MPEG-2 video in .vob, .mpg, and .m2v formats. So you can use Gknot, Vdub, or DVD2AVI alone.
