2-pass

can someone please teach me how to encode 2-pass with more than 1 file. i want to set up job control for this. i just need to ask some simple questions.. im not getting any replies in my other threads. PLEASE :(

Whoops, sorry, your other posts got past me. Theoretically there shouldn't be a problem.

Just queue jobs in VDub in this order:

video 1, 1st pass
video 1, 2nd pass

video 2, 1st pass
video 2, 2nd pass

...and so on.

That way the same .stats file (where data from the 1st pass is collected that the 2nd pass needs) is just reused and you don't have to enter different names for the .stats file for each video. Just keep that order, first pass first! :cool:

i see . THANKS! i understand what the .stats do. but whats the dummy first pass file do? it is just there as a dummy for the stats?

Oh, the dummy has absolutely no meaning. You can just overwrite it with every new pass, doesn't hurt at all. Honestly, I don't know what the first-pass-file consists of, as the encoder just drops the bitstream in first pass. But hey, you gotta save SOMETHING in first pass, right? :rolleyes:
