Doing The Math

Up untill now I have avioded using CCE, I decided to give the full 9 to 5 backup guide a go! and I managed to do it successfully with star trek the next generation, however CCE makes the video files too small using the "getting the best out of CCE" guide, and I cant find any where how to do maths.. IE I have say 3GB let for video so I need to make Q 50 max 9800 etc. I have looked around and cant find a good explantion to this anyone point me to a good guide or explain it?

Here is how I do it for multi pass mode (I always use min of 2 passes, which is really 3, the first builds a database) All I'll do is 1 video and 1 ac3 track.

This procedure is dead on everytime.

All file sizes are determined by "right-click/properties" in MS Explorer. I'll use made up numbers.

First open the AC3 track with "AC3delayCorrector". Right down the total number of audio frames and divide by 31.25 lets say the result is 9023.44 seconds.

4700 MB ---max DVD-R size
-100 MB ---VOB navigation packs
-20 MB ---extra buffer because I've gone over a little b4
-450.34 ----AC3 track (remember "right-click/properties")

4129.66/9023.44*8000=3661

In CCE use 3661 as the average bit rate. Set min=0, max=9000

the 8000 converts from mega bytes to kilo bits.
