Avsynth and color conversion for cce

Is there any point in converting to yuy before serving an avi to cce?
I han't really seen any speed gain.

If you haven't seen a change in speed by adding the conversion it's probably because 1. The video was already in yuy or 2. CCE converted the colorspace anyway, so having Avisynth do it first doesn't save anything.

If the "original" AVI was made using Vdub in fast recompress, then it would already be in yuv, correct?

To bad CCE doesn't accept yv12 sources, so we could use the new avisynth 2.5, and get a (small) speed increase :(
But i believe this would only happen when using DVD source, because using when AVI a new conversion (yuv->yv12 or RGB->yv12) would have to happen.
