optimum motion search method for ReMpeg??

I used the instructions from this site to lower the bitrate so I can fit a dvd9 to 1 dvd5.The percentage needed for ReMpeg was 24% lower.I used PREDICTION for Motion search but the result was worse that VCD plus some regions of the frames looked like Undersampled. Sould I use a different motion search method and will the result be adaquate?

Did you put the slide adjuster to 24% or 76% ?
As it should have been 76%, I have had good results from rempeg ,however it does sometimes fall on its arse with some movies

I tried star wars episode 1.the slider was at 76%.I'll try it with a different movie.thanks mate

rempeg wont work with StarwarsE1 or AOTC or minority report , to do these movies you have to use cce 2.50 as I did , it was these movies that pissed me off ,

starwars AOTC will twitch as will minority report

so no one ha sany sugestiuons for motion search?

Do settings other then predicion increase quality, as they certainly increase render time

prediction it's about 6 hours, full it's a bout 26 hours......

moulin rouge reduced to 75% was fine in mst places, twitchy in others, it didn;t like to compress black at all

i'm now working on k-19, having to reduce to 70......predicition is fat, but i'd perfer quality fi increased tiem will help any

last night i encoded k=19 using "gradient" i like it, it id better wioth black then predictive, and was about the same speed, around 6.5 hours for a 2.2 hour movie

twords the end it got a bit jittery where the values flased on the grain, but it was prolly crunching to fit into the bitrate at that point as the average bitrate was higher then predicted overall

i'd lvoe to see if full is good, but it increases compresuion tiem sooo much
