i have a x5da8 motherboard from supermicro. It includes dual channel scsi and dual channel IDE, my question is, can i have 3 devices on one IDE channel?
my first channel i have 2 devices, a dvdburner and a cd burner, my second channel i was hoping to put 3 devices, a 40gig hd as the primary master and then a 120 as the primary slave and a 120 as the secondary slave. Is this possible? my IDE cable only has room for 2 devices, but there are cords for 3 right? I actually wanted to put 4 hdds, but i think that pushing it on one channel right?
Could i get an ide controller card? i would liek to get one, but the problem is, since i have a dual xeon workstationm board, i only have 2 pci slots, the other 3 are pci-x which isnt compatable with pci. and im using my 2 pci for a creative soundblaster 2 audigy platinum and the other for a dvstorm2 plus.
are there any ide controller cards that will fit pci-x? it would be best if the card also supported raid, since i could have the 2 120s at raid0 and then the my 2 40s on the motherboard's channel.
thankyou for the help!
