hi all,
when i recently opened an avisynth-script (avisynth_2.5/mpeg2dec3.dll/monitorfilter25a) in virtualdub and played it while also watching the output in the monitorfilter-window, i noticed a big difference between the two pictures:
the vdub-picture was much less noisy/blocky/artifacty. in fact, the vdub-output seemed filtered. since it was a dvd-source it simply looked better. i figured, that when i disable directdraw-accelleration, both pictures look the same.
now i really wonder:
a, what happens to the picture through directdraw?
b, how is the picture actually being fed into the encoder when converting to another format? - the way i see it in monitorfilter or the way i see it in virtualdubs output?
am i just having a lack of some really basic knowledge?
