flickering at bottom of video ??

hi all,

i noticed that on some movies, the cce transcoded m2v has flickering at the bottom, caused by a horizontal black line in like the 2nd or 3rd line from the bottom, just like text in a menu flickers when u forgot to antialaise it.

the line is not the whole length of the screen, its like 3/4 of the total image, starting from the left, so basically it sorta cuts the video there, going through the picture.

i just noticed it isnt present throughout whole movie, just the first few chapters......


my set up:

cce 2.50
avs through avisynth
re authored with scenarist

anybody knows how this can be? it is kinda annoying cause it flickers really bad in brighter scenes....

if possible, provide a pic, but a first guess would be a result of the incorrect field order setting with CCE.

field setting ? how can that be? i checked the original video which was topfield first, so i set that in CCE also.....and it only is in the first few chapters...not whole movie.

btw. after new inspection, it seem it is across whole length after all.....not just 3/4....

CCE handles the field setting 'differently', try it with the setting the other way and see if it helps.

weird but you are right....if i change the topfield setting its ok!

but how can that be ? how does CCE handle it then ? im curious about that......

how can it be that its only in the first few chapters ?

if i change the setting, doesnt that make all chapter BUT the first few flickering ?

how can i be sure that it encodes the whole movie correctly then ? imean this is weird...does the movie have different field settings per chapter ?

It is essential that you disable 'upper field first' as CCE encodes upper field first anyway. This is a known bug with CCE v2.50.

really?? i have 2.50.01.00 .. i never heard of that bug, nor did i ever see it mentioned in guides or such. how do you know this ?

This has been explained for example in the FitCD docs and I believe it's also been discussed in the DVD2SVCD forums. If you want your CCE encoded movie to be 'bottom field first' (presuming the original is that way) , you'll have to do a simple trick with ReStream. If you want some extra information, I'm sure you'll find it via the search.
