Does your video card have a lot to do with the cpu usage to playback DivX videos?
I have a M2 250Mhz Creative 3D Blaster PCI, and a K6-2 300mhz with integrated SiS AGP.
Playback of Divx 3 320x240 30fps on the 250 is smooth 70-90% cpu
on the 300mhz cpu is 100 and the playback is stuttering. I've did a fresh re-install of Windows and it's the same

Your video card works well.
It's the processor that must decompress and transfer every frame to your video card.

I think you should buy a processor <1 Ghz to get better results.

Take in mind that DivX software is also optimized for MMX, SSE, SSE2 and 3dNow so your old processor just uses MMX and 3dNow. An SSE processor (Athlon and Pentium 3) can give you more speed increment.

My system is an Athlon 650mhz 192MB with a ATI All-in-Wonder 128 Pro, WinTv, 110GB hd's.
I want to encode videos and play them on the other systems sometimes.

The thing is the K6 should be faster than the M2 due to clock speed and 3DNow but it isn't. The K6 is an integrated everything board  oh and also the M2 has 32MB RAM :D K6 96MB
