Ok I am trying to backup my buffy and simpsons dvds which are PAL(and from what ihave read here this may be a prob).
I am creating a 1:1 of each disc.I can build the dvd to 1:1 easily enough but the files have combing.
It is a real pain and I was was advised to use avisynth and the decomb plug-in.
I am not familiar with avisynth at all.I have read posts here but still kinda stuck.
Iwould like to know bearing in mind these are PAL dvd's will I get good results.it is so annoying.
Will the resultant file work in CCE as that is whati use to encode or do I have to use another program.Sorry if this is basic stuff but having had to learn various programmes to create a 1:1 this problem has knocked me back a bit.
Any help appreciated.
I have read the guide here and as far as I can understand need only the field deinterlace is this right?

I've done the Buffy, and a FieldDeinterlace(blend=false) should do the trick. For the Simpsons, try blend=false or blend=true, and choose the best one.

If it's field-shifted progressive PAL, you'd be better off with Telecide() than with FieldDeinterlace().

Thanks Neuron2 all help very much appreciated. This forum has helped me a great deal and hopefully soon I can help other people. It takes a while to learn and although I will never learn it all I will have enough knowledge to back up my dvds perfectly and that is very satisfying.
It's very satisfying work creating back up dvd's(if not frustrating at times). But I suppose if anyone could do it it wouldn't be as rewarding.
Thanks again guys.
