I am trying to burn a DVD.

Nero won't give me the option of DVD-Video mode, so that's out.
Roxio won't start.

Maestro won't make the image.

It gives me some crap about no ASPI layer or something, then performs an illegal error and shuts itself down.

So I can't use DVD Decrypter.

I'm running Pioneer A05.

Why is this happening?

You can download forceaspi from the downloads to see if that helps. Have you tried to make an image with imgtools? I use it everytime, but it's got 1 or 2 little tricky spots. This will give you the img file for dvd decrypter.

Imgtools mini guide:

make sure the VIDEO_TS folder is under the c: drive and has just the vob's, ifo's, and bup's. Maestro puts in a .lay file and this screws everything up when making an image. You still can use Maestro, just make sure you get rid of that file.

press create dvd image button

dvd drive is c:\

output image file is "movie".img (make sure you actually type .img)

disc label YOUR_MOVIE

check box create image.

DVD_master - I don't think you would be, but I'm just making sure: you are not using 2044a, are you? It never would compile, for reasons which are best left unsaid!

Maestro needs an ASPI layer (software driver) installed on the system in order to create the disc image.

ASPI layer software used to be just a SCSI thing, but has been adapted and used by many software packages to manupulate disc images, optical drives, and generic volumes in a consistent manner.

Adaptec has made their ASPI implementation free for use by anyone now, and I've found it to be the most consistent performing and compatible ASPI layer available. It is available for free download here (http://www.adaptec.com/worldwide/support/driverdetail.html?sess=no&language=English+US&cat=/Product/ASPI-4.70&filekey=aspi_471a2.exe).

I've tested this installation with Maestro 2.9, build 2915a, on Windows 2000, and it works.

Just thought I'd mention I often received a blue screen when creating an image while the project was open, but closing Maestro and re-opening a fresh instance and just making the image with the project unopened has never caused me problems.

I found that I can't do it right after compiling, that I need to close it then open it again and compile.

I think that's what Matthew said. I should've posted about it sooner.
