Hi, I'm a noob to this list but have done quite a bit of video work. Anyway, trying to put Signs on DVD-R and run into a problem. After a successful rip and stripping of unwanted features I tried using ReMPEG2 to resize but each time got an error at 90% and the program would shut down. Took a look at the log and noticed that one GOP was extra long in length:
Example: (only an example)
pbbpbbbbpbb
pbbpbbbbppb
pbbpbbbbpbbpbb <<the program freezes right at this point every time.

This is in .vob #5 after stripping out the unwanted garbage. Now, if I try and join the .vob's using VOBMerge it will stop and give me an I/O error 87 in the 5th VOB as well.

I've used the same method to rip, encode and author many movies without a problem until this one. Any suggestions???

DVD Decrypter
IFOEdit 94

Well I also had the same problem with a film that was "the body". When I used Rempeg2 a similar error happened, and I couldnīt do anything about it... when using Rempeg2.
But i then started to learn how to work with CCE and i found out that this little wonder passes over everything. Its a little more complicated and it will take a litle of your time but it is worth it. If you dont know how to work with CCE you can find the guides for all programs in the doom 9 forum and some programs.

Here are the ones that i use:

DVD2AVI 1.77
Vfapi Converter
Subrip 1.14
Bitrate Viewer
CCE 2.50
Chapter Xtractor
DVD Maestro (more easy) or Scenarist (more pro)

Hope this works for you

PS:This method is much more faster than with Rempeg2 and it makes better encodes than Rempeg2

int_53185:

What "size to copy" bytes did you use as a cutoff point? I had the same problem as everyone in here. Also had the same problem with Bloodwork (VOB #1).

Sincity - I used "Size to Copy" of 251008000 as my cutoff. It works just fine.

Try using Vobrator. You can preview by volb id cell and determine which cell you want to keep/rewrite or remove from the resulting Vob.

problem with signs is the credits are nto enterly contained to the start of a cel, the movie leaks into it, least i think it does.

same exact trouble with signs though 84% then illigla operation.

guess i coudl try cce....i was tryign to cut the id's with ifo edit but that just didn't work right, hmm, maybe i'll try vob split it's JUST over like maybe 50 meg....

i was also toying with the idea of re-encodign the audio from 448 to 384 but couldn't figure out how to mux it back in and maintain chapter points without keying them manually
right nwo working on Enemy Mine

use vob split with vob5(stripped)
then set just below 4000000
that gives you a file at 400 meg it fits fine
load up ifoedit get vts secs
your ready to go

Ripped signs - rempeg refused to load the CFFL file.

Attempted CCE encoded ifo'd burned - but all I've got is a movie that chops on my dvd player.

Works great in my PC - haven't seen this on any of the other 40+ movies I've done.

The only thing I can think of is possibly the progressive scan option in CCE which I tried several combinations according to the FAQ's I read.

Am I stupid? I'm stumped!?
