Hi!

I am having trouble creating widescreen menus. What is the workflow?

Let's assume I am using NTSC

1- Create menu background @ 854x480
2- Resize menu backgound to 720x480

Now the part I don't understand.

3- (optional) Create widescreen version subpicture @ ??????
4- Create widescreen version highlight @ ?????????

5- (optional) Create letterbox version subpicture @ ??????
6- Create letterbox version highlight @ ?????????

Anybody?

What authoring tool r u using?

Scenarist: import the background and set it to 16x9 in property-browser. Then import subpicture and choose 'force start'. And i think it should be 852x480. Keep 16x9 in one VTS and 4:3 in ANOTHER VTS.

Does this help?

That's for scenarist.

There is not 4:3 movie, so no need for another VTS. My problem is when viewing the menus on a widescreen TV vs. 4:3 TV.

Ok, that's how it should be done.

- Take your original 854x480 background.
- Resize it to 720x405
- Create your subpicture and highlight
- Resize it to 720x360
- Add canvas. 60 pixels to the top and 60 to the botton.

You'll end up with a 720x480 picture that is the letterboxed version of the widescreen original.

Take care!
