I'm working on a couple of James Bond R1 DVD's (View to a Kill).

I've ripped the VOB's to the hard drive. Extracted the menu contents for the VTS that contains the main movie. I end up with highlight BMP's, single frame m2v (still menu background), video m2v, and ac3.

I am specifically working on the special features menu. What gets extracted from the menu VOB is a video that takes you from the main menu to page 1 for special feat. It starts as a video and ends in a still. A still .m2v also gets extracted for page 2 (no video). No still m2v for page 1 gets extracted. 3 or 4 James Bond movies have turned out this same way.

Can anyone shed light on how to set up a a PGC that starts as a movie and ends in a still (waiting on viewer to select choices)using the last frame of a video?

I can set up a PGC that contains program1 as the video and program 2 as a still. My problem is getting a still for page 1(program 2). There isn't any in the menu VOB to be extracted.

If I use the simulation window to export a bmp of the last frame of video (page 1), scenarist says it's letterbox only, and won't jive with the PGC that's set to pan&scan...even if I set everything else to both pan&scan and letterbox. I can't set the property of the exported bmp; it's set as letterbox when imported.

I might be out of luck. I'm beginning to think I need that still to link to. If so, I can't find a way to get it. All the still m2v's are 720x480. The exported bmp is 720x480. What's different about the exported bmp? Do I need the still to be m2v to be compatible with the rest?

Thanks, this is driving me crazy!

At the moment I would say:

Yes, you need to put the still image as a second program layer in the video pgc.

But be aware of the fact, that you can tell scenarist in data editor in the properties of the still image, how to encode it! you have the choice betwenn 4:3, 4:3 (Pan&Scan), 16:9 (Letterbox)!

When I drop a BMP created from a screen shot into the data or track editor, it asks what kind of menu. I pick still. Then I look at the properties in the data editor and it says the layout is letterbox. There is no drop down box to choose from...to change it I mean. Any ideas?

I meant you have to look at the properties of the image! Not the track! ;)

Click on the image in the data editor. In the image properties you can set the encoding method and format. :)

Thanks Crazyjoe-
I noticed that after I made a track with the bmp, I can no longer change the aspect ratio in the data editor. If I delete the track, then I can change it.
Thanks again

ok if i understand you want that your animated stay pause on the last frame ?

If it's that put your menu track on the scenario editor, select the cell of your menu an change the value of the cell still time to 255. That simply say "pause" on the last frame !!!

This help you ?
