i checked the guides and the forum but didnt find a proper solution to my problem...
i have a Combo stand-alone VHS/DVD Player, the LG DC595NWQ...it doesnt seem to support SVCD's and i'd like somehow to play HQ flicks i dl from the net so here we go:

a. i've read that on some players u can hack them so they'll be able to play SVCD's too...is it possible on this one

b. if i cant do what i want on A then, i have a 2 avi files XviD flicks... i want to convert it to some format that i'll be able to watch on this DVD player. i understood that there is a way to encode it to MPEG2 and then somehow manipulate the image so the dvd player will recognise it as VCD but will play it in the high quality of SVCD...if so, then how ?!

c. what is the best way (in terms of quality) to convert xvid to MPEG2 and if B aint possible to MPEG1 :(

thanks in advance

A. Really? I don't know ...
B. Yes, there is a way to trick the dvd player into thinking your svcd is a vcd. It's called header trick. Do a search, there are lots of post.
C. Best way is to frameserve the avi into cce and put on 3-4 passes. Use TMPGEnc for vcd, it's pretty good MPEG1 encoder.
