SVCD´s and VCD´s Kill dvd players

Is this true??

I heard somewere that svcd´s and vcd´s that are played in home dvd players kill the dvd player because they wear out the optic lazer lens faster than normal dvd disk.

this Scares me a bit because I play lot´s of svcd´s in my player and dont wan´t to wear it out.

Highly doubt it's true. If it is, it would happen nowhere even near the timeframe you'll be using the player.

This has nothing to do with DVD2SVCD, however, and I see no room for real discussion here, so topic closed.
