I'm runnin winxp professional. I have some divx files that won't play correctly in windows media player 8. When I try to play it I get sound but no picture. Instead I get that blue ambience:water visualization effects. However if i play it with the old windows media player 6 it works fine. This isn't a serious problem but I was just curious if there was any way to make the file work with wmp 8?

One more proof that WMP7/8 is buggy!;)
Why don't you use MPC, Zoomplayer, BSPlayer instead?
More Options & less buggy!

I reccomend you try the following, which always helped me with pesky DivX files that don't work. Load your file into VDub, choose Direct Stream Copy for both Audio and Video, then save it as a new File. This tends to help in most of the cases where a downloaded DivX file won't play on a WMP8.

download WMP9 if you want to use WMP. BSPlayer and ZoomPlayer are much better options though.
