TMPGenc CQ settings in DVD2SVCD

OK, my first post to this forum, and I have really tried to search for the answer to this question!

I am using TMPG as my encoder, and find that the CQ setting gives results that are fine for me, as well as working faster than 2-passVBR. I won't say that I fully understand CQ, but the TMPG help file seems to give enough information to experiment with.
However, when I select CQ in DVD2SVCD, I get a number of options to set. These options seem to bear no relationship with the CQ dialogue in TMPG.

Has anyone got any pointers for controlling the TMPG CQ settings from within DVD2SVCD?

OK, no responses so I'll try to be more specific.

I understand the settings in DVD2SVCD for TMPG CQ relate to an algorithm that then sets the CQ values. I'm just not sure exactly which settings are "fixed" to the TMPG current defaults, and which are affected (and how) by this automatic evaluation. Are there any guidelines on the settings in DVD2SVCD (not the advanced settings, there's loads on them, just the "Spread" etc. that appear only when CQ is selected) for any particular circumstances?
The best link I've found (the technical manual) just lists the dialogue names and defaults and comments that a good overvew is needed.

I don't think the "spread" selection is still there on the latest version of DVD2SVCD.

You should have "offset CQ value" and "file prediction factor"

The offset is just the CQ value that TMPGenc will start at when finding the CQ for you encode. This can make things faster when you know that a certain CQ is too low or high. The default of 50 is fine.

File Prediction Factor gives a little leeway for a mistake in calculated file size. Once again the Default of .95 is fine. If you find your filesize is coming out much too small you can change it to ".98" or even "1" ...if it is coming out too large than you can try ".90" ect
