hi all
i originaly came here to ask a question
but due to the 5 days-newbie-detention you got here
i found the solution myself playing around
with the solutions already provided for other cases
so i decided to post what was my original question
that i wrote down not to forget to post it
and the solution that i found
my card is cheap therefore lots of people might have it
and might have the same problem
so i think all this might be usefull
if you think its not - delete at will
the comp:
CPU AMD Athlon XP 1600+ 1.4 GHz
MB EPoX 6k3aVIA694 - 42302e31 Award Modular BIOS v6.00PG, 11/01/02
SC Realtec AC'97 Audio for VIA, ver. 5.10.0.4070
RAM 256 MB DDRAM PC333
VGA ASUS V8200 Deluxe Series v31.40G Ver. 6.13
the card:
PixelView Play TV Pro Model: PV-BT878P+ rev. 9D
with generic driver Ver=05/03/2000,5.0.3128.5
the source:
cable TV, PAL D, mono
the story:
got a dirt-cheap capture card, played around in Win98SE
got to the point where i found out that im completely satisfied
with:
the requirements:
captured on-the-fly from 384 x 288 at 24 RGB to
DivX AVI at default low-mo at 100/910 with keyframe on 3 sec
with sound at PCM 44.100 kHz, 16 Bit, Mono, 86 kb/sec
captured by VirtualDub with RGB filter and Noise reduction on
everything is going fine in Win98SE
the problem:
i cant do in WinXP what i do in Win98SE
using the same hardware and programs, and the latest drivers
the situation:
VirtualDub is unable to remember what was the last channel viewed
VirtualDub is able to capture only at 320 x 240
[the 384 x 288 set appears to be a fake zoom on squares]
iuVCR is able to capture only at 320 x 240
and so on
only VirtualVCR is able to capture at 384 x 288
but the results are poor compared to VirtualDub
probably due to the lack of filters
all of the above regardless of what the WinXP settings are
the offered solution:
btwincap.sourceforge.net drivers - after install

What should I do to be able to capture
on-the-fly with VirtualDub from 384 x 288 to

DivX AVI in WinXP?
if no-go - question #3:
How do I set/find filters for VirtualVCR, or
how do I enhance the quality of the picture it has?

install manualy the btwincap drivers
get BtWinCapSwitcher, run it and set it to compatible
then use virtualdub to capture with custom resolutions
virtualdub now 'remembers' what was the last channel viewed
