I've already split two movies "The Lord of the Rings" and "Van Wilder"
Im doing everything the same as the other two movies. I rip all the files using dvd decrypter. I open the main movie IFO and split it. I add all the missing titlesets. After that is done i close ifoedit reopen it and push get vts sectors for disc 1. Now when i try to check if disc 1 will play I get past the Columbia Tristar part in the very beginning but as soon as that scene is done i get this message. "DVD Warning. Could not open a file on the DVD disc." What am i doing wrong? Someone please help me out

I've got the same problem with triple x!!
Have succesfully splitted a number of movies but this one...
I suspect its because of the title sets in the VIDEO_TS.IFO file, eg. if there should be 6 title sets and you only have 4 title sets on the disc (because the other title sets are on disc2) standalone players can't handle it!!
However everything works fine in PowerDVD on the pc...do standalone players have more restrictions??
dunno, gonna make a post myself, greets,

theres no need to split these if you want movie only on the dvdr. They fit on there easy.

Trapped cannot fit on one dvdr. Its 6.66 gb

Like i said above, if you want Movie Only then it will fit on 1 dvdr. I just did that movie and it fit on 1 dvdr w/o reencoding.

isn't there only 1 VOB ID how do you strip that much data off? If you strip all the streams you can strip that much data?

Use ifoedit and open the movie .ifo file (VTS_01_0.ifo ???) and hit VOBextras. When you come to the subtitle/audio screen just pick what audio you want to keep then click OK then choose VOBid 1 then it will do its work. I always keep the digital 5.1 audio and scrap the rest. After its done you'll have a movie with only 1 audio that will be under 4.3gigs. There are plenty of ifoedit guides out there. Even on xXx movie i even left the 2channel and 5.1 channel audios which was still under 4.3gigs.

Yo Rubberman,
I've got no problems with xXx on one dvd5 for just the movie, don't need french audio so it fits perfectly...
But now I want to split the xXx dvd9 into two dvd5's.
Splitted the main movie (VTS_02_*.*) and for both discs added the VIDEO_TS*.* and VTS_01_*.* - and the rest of the specials on disc2.
Everything works fine in PowerDVD on the pc but in all the standalones it only plays the Columbia Tristar logo
What am I doing wrong? For all title sets I did the GET VTS SECTORS, resaved them...and on both discs I have a VTS_01_*.* (first title set)
No problems with DVD5's or many other DVD9's I splitted so the problem isn't the way I burn or the media...just pisses me off a bit

What i did when i split movies was use Use smartripper and rip every file to a folder. Play that folder in ifoedit and after 5 seconds of playing the MOVIE hit exit and it will tell you what VTS files were played. Use ifoedit and let it do all the work. you may adjust the split point it picks out. After it splits you need to copy over the VIDEO_TS.ifo/bup/vob to each new folder. I think you need to do the VTS_01_0.ifo/bup/vob too. Then copy over the VTS files that ifoedit told you. These other VTS files are most likely the trailers. Make sure you open VIDEO_TS.ifo in each new folder and GET SECTORS. that will correct everything. then play it to make sure. On the 2nd disc i alway have it start immediatley without going to the menu. hope i didnt confuse you.

Sometimes ifoedit is funny. Cause i will split a movie or just strip it down then Get Sectors then play and it wont. Ifoedit will lock up. So i usually restart my computer, run ifoedit again and try again. Then it will play.

Dunno why but the VTS*.* with the trailers needs to be on both discs to get them work in standalones...
Also sometimes the intro of the menu for xXx runs two times  even the original does!!

This has been proven wrong. Have you read my xXx cheat sheet?

I was wondering about that too. That's why in my cheat sheet, I shortened it.
