CCE 2.66 shutting down after every step

Hi there,

until now i used CCE 2.50 with Avisynth Scripting and i changed to version 2.66.01.07 (by the way: i deinstalled CCE 2.50).

With the first movie i encoded for DVD-R (From Hell) everything worked fine (2 passes VBR; frameserving with AviSynth).

Now I'm trying to re-encode the movie "Cube" with 2 passes VBR (Min 500, Avg 6000, Max 8500).

When finishing the vaf File, cce closes itself and that's all.....i tried it again by using the option "Use existing file" (the vaf was completed before by cce; CCE "crashed" exactly after finishing the vaf) and guess what happened....after the first pass CCE closed itself again and nothing more....

Any ideas?

Update:

I deinstalled 2.66.01.07 and reinstalled 2.50.....same problem.....strange.... :confused:

CCE was working fairly well for me in XP until last week after I uninstalled some capture apps that I was testing out. After some troubleshooting I did 2 things that stabilized CCE again.

1. Installed new VIA 4-in-1 Hyperion drivers (only do this for VIA motherboards).
2. Keep a Internet Explorer window open during the encoding process. Go to a web page and leave this page maximized (CCE in the background).

Observation and Theory:
Last week, I noticed that 4-5 seconds before CCE would error out, I would see a few seconds of a lot of harddisk activity. Someone mentioned that this was related to CCE saving process while doing multi-pass encoding and that somehow the harddisk wasn't saving fast enough and so it would lose data and hence stop after making the vaf or after 1-2 passes in a 5-pass encode. Perhaps keeping a webpage open and keeping CCE in the background somehow causes CCE to save more often and more completely allowing it to finish multi-pass encodings. I don't seem to notice excessive harddisk activity anymore during multi-pass encodings and no more CCE errors too.
