My Chapters are wrong, please help.

I've extracted the chapters from the original

vts_01_1.ifo
vts_pcgiti
vts_pcg_1

and saved the celltimes, then i re-authored and the chapters work fine, I then introduce the original menu and have to overwrite the authored .ifo with the original .ifo file so that the menu works, then all the chapters are messed up.

Is there a way of just importing the NEW chapters in to the original .ifo file so they work or do I have to do it manually and if so how?

Also why does Ifoedit chapter extractor add another chapter to its list, if an original dvd has 32 chapters when you save the Celltimes in Ifoedit it creates 33 chapters. Why is this?

Tried that m8 and sound goes out of sync. I have gone from dvd-9 to dvd-5 by downsampling the video source if I remux in Ifoedit the sound seems to go out of sync or should it be in sync? if it should whats going wrong?

to you have the framerate set correctly when transcoding are you using tmpgenc?
Do you create a template file before transcoding?
If you use ac3 this has better precision because it is time stamped.
I need more information if you want some help.

For some strange reason I've remuxed the m2v file in to the original vobs and the sound is in sync, its just chapter problems now.

I have the original menu and all the original extras as well as the movie all under 4.3gb. Everything is cool except for the chapters selection and while the movie plays the chapter changing using the remote control.

I've noticed in the original .ifo that goes with the movie that the chapters have a gap and say LAYER is this something to do with the layer change? because I think that this is causing the problem.

The re-authored vob files (movie only) with the chapters that I extracted as a Celltimes.txt file work perfectly, no lock ups at all but there is also no gaps or the word LAYER.

try removing removing the branching when you remux the file back into the vobs. This is the checkbox in the right upper quadrant of the movie only remux dialog. I usually do this when I strip the content.

I've tried about 50 million ways to make the chapters work properly and still no luck.

I'am using the original menu along with re-encoded movie vobs.

I've done all the save Celltimes from the original and tried to use IfoUpdate to merge the chapters but no luck. How do you preserve the chapters after you've re-encoded and keep the original menu.

Drafty the remux option is not highlighted.

Sorry I was refering to ifoedit not ifoupdate.
The option is lluv angle point. check this and update navigation pointers and process this will update the ifo and hopefully remove this "Layer" entry.

As you can see the gaps inbetween the programs and cells. I think this is the problem.

I've read the threads and you're still doing this in IFOedit. I have a manual way to doing of it if you prefer. IfoUpdate should work but again if you want to do it the manually.

I was going to write out the procedures but the chaptering is confusing in your threads. Your first quote from your first post shows 33 chapters? but your last post shows 28?

Sorry my fault, I was working on a different movie. The current one is Snatch. It has 28 chapters and 35 cells. If I use Ifoedit to extract the chapters and save it as a Celltimes.txt file I get 35 chapters, so Ifoedit is adding 7 extra chapters, this is where IfoUpdate runs in to a problem by reporting PGC is too small when I try to update, coz I'm trying to put 35 chapters in to 28 so then it aborts the operation of updating.

Still having no luck with the chapters, managed to merge the new chapters in to the original ifo file using CELL MODE in IfoUpdate but it just locks up and crashes.

Something so simple yet so hard to do.
