I've recently bought an ATA controller. I've connected on it my 2 hd 'cause Iwant them to be indipendent. Unfortunatly it seems that only the system of the 1st hd can be loaded. Both hd have win 2k system. What can Ido for recovering the multiboot? Before installing the controller, I was able to boot separatly each of the 2 hd.
Thanks.:)

Hi Ramirez! My card is an ST LAB one. I think that dual boot is not possible under an ATA controller..:( Now I've put my two h disks on my mobo again. My OS are Windows XP and Win2k, but the 1st hd doesn't seem to recognize the 2nd one!! I can only boot them by switching the device on the bios of my asus atv 266 ex...
What do you think it may be?
Thanks for your help.

I think that your problem with Dual Boot is related To the WIN NT
Boot Loader, its might be damaged,or missing some critical entries in BOOT.INI
There are several diff methods to restore NT boot loader and/or boot.ini entries
I'd suggest you to try the easiest one, which is windows reinstallation in Repair Mode.
1. Connect your both hard drives back to the ATA Controller.
H.D with WINXP installed MUST be connected first > Primary IDE/MASTER
2. Start your machine with bootable XP CD.
3. As soon as program started, choose Repair existing XP installation.
Follow The Instruction, and hopefully at the end of the repair process you'll be able to dual boot again.
Try it, and report back whether this method fixed your problem.

Hi keito sorry for the late response, but here are a few other methods
Related to NT boot loader such as manual correction of invalid BOOT.ini entries, and how to use recovery console for the same purposes.
I've attached a small zip file which contains the above information for you convenience, but much More detailed information is Available on M$ web site.
BTW: I was glad to see that you've solved your problem with dual boot. :)
EDIT:The attachment must be approved by moderator.

When you move a hard drive to a different controller, the boot loader probably doesn't know the location of the drive anymore.... I'm pretty sure you can boot off an add on controller, but the boot loader needs to have the location of the drive made known to it.
