black and white playback

just watched a movie....will only play in black and white....tried all different types....xvid, divx 4,5, all diff formats. all of em r black and white...what does anyone recommend....also while im on the subject how would i go about flipping a video that is upside down. what software would i use and how would i do it...any help is welcomed...

i don't really know anything regarding your black and white problem... just check what happens if you open it in vdub and hit preview?

concerning you upside down problem: there's a flipping command in avisynth. i would have to check on the homepage myself so i suggest you just read the faq on the avisynth homepage... it shouldn't be alltoo difficult, but since i'm not an expert concerning avisynth you might want to go over to the avisynth forum and ask them how the syntax needs to be exactly!

I'm not entirely sure but i think the ffdshow playback filters have a flip video option, that's if u want to flip while playing not for re-encoding.

i take it the original is in colour right? its just you dont give the impresion that you have encoded it yourself.

no i didnt encode em but they are originally in color. one day it was fine the next it just become black and white.

check your overlay controls also (or vmr for that matter), i think there is a setting for saturation... which when set to 0 will give you b&w...
