View Full Version : CCE Encoding problem (top field first)

Hi there,
I'm trying to make a backup of my U2 DVD (Best of), PAL version.
I started creating a .D2V project (field operation -> none), frameserve and then CCE encoding using TOP FIELD FIRST (bitrateviewer info is TOP FIELD FIRST = YES). The result is goog but... a couple of clips (live from concert) play well on the PC but choppy on standalone player.
I made a second test using SWAP FIELD ORDER on DVD2AVI and the result is ok on the two clips but bad on the others (in particular on the PC where you can see black lines).
The third test is with NO FIELD OPERATION and without checking TOP FIELD FIRST on CEE (2.66) and now everything seems ok (hopefully...).

Can sameone help me understanding what's wrong?
Bug on CCE?
What kind of analysis should I have to do on a video streaming made of several different clips (live, film, etc) like this one?

Someone else may be able to help you in more detail but I can tell you there is a bug in cce and the "top field first" make sure you leave that unchecked. If you have problems after doing that you may have to reverse the field order after the encoding process using Pulldown. You can check the field order within dvd2avi while running a preview. Check both the original stream and the encoded stream and see if the field orders are the same. If not check the "tff - change the field order: ( )odd ( )even" when you run pulldown. Not sure which is top or bottom (I think odd is top but don't quote me on that)Either you can test it both ways to find out or i'm sure someone else in here can tell you.

Also make sure the "prog_seq - mask entire stream as: ( )progressive ( )interlaced" within pulldown is not checked. It will cause jerky playback on certain standalones as it did for me with my Kenwood DV-5900M.

OK, thanks.
I checked the original stream and DVD2AVI tells "T" for the first 2 mins and then "V.E.!". My encoded video stream is "T". What does it mean "V.E.!"?
BTW, I unchecked Top field first in CCE and now the encoded stream is ok.

Hummm i have never seen V.E. before. But if you find out what it means please post and let me know i'm a bit curous myself.
