hi
i ask himself a lot of question on the different switch for the gain & the normailsation & boost and which switch can i use cumulate or not.Perhaps a audio guru could help me :)

Azid Part :
-----------
1)-g max vs --maximize

in azid part u could use -g max or --maximize it's to find the auto find the max gain (in 2 pass), could u explain exactely what is the difference beetween these 2 switchs , and why the -g max switch has been removed to the besweet gui to add --maximize ?

Ota Part :
----------
2)Pregain / PostGain / hybridgain

for the postgain , the gain was added after the encoding of MP3/OGG but could u use postgain for an .ac3 or .wav , i suppose not because we don't have the gain getting during the 1 pass.

SSRC Part :
-----------
3)normalise wav file

when using this option and not a pre/post/hybridgain ?

Scale & dialog normalisation when u use gain :
----------------------------------------------
4) Could we use Azid Gain manual / or gain max or --maximise switch with post/pre/hybridgain in the same command line ? (i suppose yes)

5) Could we use lame scale switch with post/pre/hybridgain ?

6) could we use ssrc normalize wavfile switch with post/pre/hybridgain ?

7) Could we use dialog normalization switch with ota pre/post/hybrid/gain ?
8) Could we use dialog normalization switch with azid gain (max) ?
9) Could we use dialog normalization switch with azid maximize ?

thank u very much if someone could answer my questions :)
Ps: which good preset for the boost settings do u use ?

Bye.
Happy new year !

1. no difference
2. postgain only applicable for mp3/ogg
3. ssrc normalize=ota maxgain
4. you can do anything unless you use hybridgain. hybridgain is strict.
5. same as 4
6. same as 5
7. same as 6
8. yes
9. 1 |- 8

thank u very much :) i have try to send u a private msg for asking u directely these questions but your mailbox is full perhaps could u try to clean it ?

Ps: it's only an impression or u always use short answer ? (i hope the lenght of the answer was not equal to the interest of the question :) ).

Bye.

mathematicians have a saying : "if it's long, it's wrong" ;).

@dspguru

plz could u clean your PMbox because it full and i have some questions to ask u :)
i use this thread to ask u my questions , i hope this don't boring u.
I am try to finish the ac3 reencode part in my gui and i need some informations.

i want to use the possibility to re-encode an .ac3 file (only if the input is an .ac3).

for exemple if i have a 5.1 source and i want to encode it still in 5.1 but with a lower bitrate. i suppose i should modify nothing in the azid panel, or could i use some other swith like :

1)
simply ask by Y(es) or N(ot) :) .

LFE to LR (Y/N)
output stereo (stereo,suround..) (Y/N)
decode (front/rear) (Y/N)
dinamic Compression (Y/N)
Gain(max) (Y/N)
Maximize (Y/N)
Dialog Normalisation (Y/N)
SSRC 44.1mhz (Y/N)
Post/pre/hybrid gain (Y/N)

it seems to me i could use all these options except the output, if i want a 2.0 output i use stereo , if i want to keep my 5.1 input i don't use stereo output , or select surround2 i suppose.

2)
same questions if i have an 2.0 input and i want a 2.0 output.

3)
in decode (front/rear) when do u use other value than 2/0 and 3/2 ? i have always think that .ac3 are always 2/0 or 3/2 , i don't see the interest of the other value in the combobox.

4)
do u know the equation to create the graph of the boost value ?

5)
do u know the calculation to find the estimated bitrate when u use vbr quality in ogg panel ?

6)
do u know how to find the estimate bitrate when u use the 5.1 output (6ch) for the ogg file ? (the multiplication by 3.3 used in the besweetgui seems to be false, after some tests i don't find the same value).

7)
i think there is perhaps a problem in the ogg encode if u use low bitrate (exemple -ogg( -b 32 ) use the vbr quality (0.001) instead of using average bitrate of 32 kbps , but for 56 kbps it use the average bitrate.) (i will perhaps post u the log if i have the time to find it)

8)
do u think enable the 2pass mode in the ogg panel or do u have remove it definitively ?

thank u very much to find the time to increase my knowledge :)
Bye.

1. all applicable, but "-s".
-s stereo/surround/surround2 will produce 2.0, omitting "-s" will produce 5.1 .
2. "-s" has no meaning for 2.0 inputs.
3. this has no effect on BeSweet.exe, and therefore wasn't green coloured by the BeSweetGUI.
4. what do you think ;) ?
5. goto 4.
6. no
7. this belongs to another thread. i believe this thread already exists.
8. rehuff is removed until further notice.
