This is an idea for an extension in functionality to DVD2SVCD.

The video encoding takes the bulk of time during the dvd-to-svcd process. Yet, if my PC crashes, I have to start this step from the start all over again.

In TMPGenc it is possible to encode a fixed part of a movie (giving a start and end frame). Would it be possible to use this function (in the calling process as done by DVD2SVCD) to encode a movie in 10 or so chunks? In this manner recovering from a stalled encoding process could pick up at the chunk where things went wrong.

Another possibility using this feature would be that encoding could be distributed over more computers, each working on a different chunk. The VPM project provides basic network functionality for this kind of stuff.

Albeit both are good ideas they can't be implemented in dvd2svcd without major hassle, sorry.
