AVI 2 SCVD bug

When converting AVI to SVCD using DVD2SVCD I have noticed that the extracted audio is saved as a WAV file ("Encoded_Audio_1.wav") while BBMPEG expects an MP2 ("Encoded_Audio_1.mp2") file.

My workaround now is to manually convert the wav file to mpa (using Ulead Audio Editor), rename the mpa to mp2 and then use the recover function from DVD2SCVD to start the multiplexing step again.

What version of dvd2svcd you have?
The latest dvd2svcd 1.1.0 build 1c fixes this using Madplay to convert.

I have dvd2svcd 1.1.0 build 1c.

For my next project I will capture the LOG and post it here for more information.

Known issue. It will be fixed soon. There was a mistake when madplay was added. It doesn't always work.

Has this been resolved? I recently had this same issue crop up when converting an AVI. There was an "Encoded_Audio_1.mp2.wav" in the directory, and bbMPEG complained about missing a "Encoded_Audio_1.mp2" file.

Nice work with the search engine to try and find a solution for yourself. The effort is appreciated.

This particular issue was sorted years ago. Yours must be something different. In the sticky index, there is a guide to making a good post. Give it a read and use the info to give a detailed problem report and we'll see what the problem is.

My thoughts are BeSweet doesn't seem to be outputing an Encoded_audio_1.mp2 file.

I have:
Extracted_audio_1.mpa
Encoded_audio_1.mp2.wav
... in my directory, but no Encoded_audio_1.mp2.

My solutions that I had found was:
1. shorten the directory path. I did shorten it to C:\work\ but that didn't help.

2. Go with BeSweet 1.4

Probably not ;)

You are certainly correct that BeSweet is not creating an encoded audio file.
The bundled version is fine - I don't think an upgrade would help. I suspect the problem lies with the extraction process.

Keep the files from the original project and set a new default folder in the DVD2SVCD misc tab. Now try the following:

1) In the audio tab you have two options for avi audio extraction - internal routines and VFW. Whichever one you are using, try the other.

2) If that doesn't create an encoded audio file, try the trick with VDubMod in the "AVI2... fails at some point" sticky at the top of this forum.

3) If you are still struggling, try using the audio processing tools in VDubMod to extract the audio as a WAV file, then add this WAV file to the AVI and disable the original audio. Resave the AVI and convert from this.

In each case, stop the process as soon as video encoding starts. Once you find a method which gets you a proper encoded audio file, copy it to the original project folder and recover the original project (misc tab) from Muxing and Cutting.

I have found if the extracted/original audio is at some odd sampling freq that is NOT 44.1 or 48khz, then BeSweet crumples and does not convert the WAV file through to MP2. DVD2SVCD just simply checks to see BeSweet end and assumes all is well and continues.

Can you post what GSPOT says about the audio in the AVI ?

I'd just manually load the generated WAV file into Goldwave, convert it to 48khz, normalize it and save out as an MP2 file with the name of "Encoded_Audio_1.mp2", then Recover DVD2SVCD from the Cut & Mux stage.

The second step worked. I had to use VirtualDub, since I couldn't find an Audio tab in VirtualDubMod. I followed dddog's post and it worked fine.
