View Full Version : how to modify an IFO file

I have backuped a couple of my DVDs using always the same method of reencoding and I have always the same problem (the dvd works on the computer but not on the standalone player). I use CCE then author the DVD with IFOedit.
If I use Rempeg it works fine.
However when authoring the DVD, ifoedit only generate an ifo file which has no menu table and only one PGC and therefore I can not use the _0.VOB file from the original dvd. (getting warning when I do a get vts sector and the movie starts straight away when loaded on the computer)

The original IFO file has all the menu tables but has several PGC. The movie is in PGC-1.

so on on side I have a generated IFO file with no menu table and only one PGC which will work fine on a standalone player but I lose all the menus and on the other side I have the original IFO file with the menu tables and 3 PGC and this does not work in the standalone player since 3 PGC are specified but I have reencode only the movie which is in PGC-1 so I guess the standalone player is confused.

so my question would be: how can I transfer the menu tables and other menu information from the original IFO file into the new generated IFO file so that I can use the menus (_0.VOB) in my backup ???

I tried with Ifoedit but I can not figure out the way to do it

also what will happen if after reauthoring with ifoedit using CCE files, I load the celltimes.txt file from the original ifo file (see ifoedit authoring guide) ?

Since chapters are expressed in frames, after reencoding with CCE, the number of frames should be different shouldn't it ? and therefore the chapter list screwed up ?
will this have an impact on how the standalone player starts to play the movie or only the chapters will mismatch ?

Thanks and happy new year to all of you
