SVCD Audio Sync Problem in DVD Player

Hi all

can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong

everytime I go to create a svcd i get an audio sync problem, I
have tried the Movie Offset setting (BBmpeg tab, set at 5) and that
came really close to solving my problem but it is still slightly out of sync, and that setting will not go any higher.

I have created KVCDs that work in the DVD player.
The main difference that I have noticed is Kwag uses Vstrip
for his stripping process.

Will using vstrip on my svcd's solve my sound sync problem?

Or do I need to use another setting on dvd2svcd that im not aware of?

As for your problem, we need a logfile. Also do a search, because this topic has been discussed, rediscussed, and rerediscussed several times over.

I found a fix that works for me

I used SmartRipper to rip the DVd then

I downgraded my Dvd2Svcd to the 1.0.5 build 4 version

Under the bbMPEG tab I set the movie offset to 5 sec
and
The startup delay for the Video at 745(ms) for my Toshiba SD-2650 DVD Player

These bbMPEG settings are incorporated into the earlier version Dvd2Svcd
under the bbMPEG tab.

I also have a JVC DVD Player that uses a different bbMPEG setting
I set it to 5 for the movie offset setting
and I leave the Startup Delay for the Video at the default setting of 180

These 2 different settings work for me, but
can someone please tell me why these 2 Dvd Players need
different start up delay settings to run the same movie?

I find it really strange because when i created Kwag's KVCD it ran fine on both DVD Players under the same settings?

Obviously I have a lot to learn but if someone in the know could explain
to me in plain english why the same settings dont work on 2 different DVD Players playing SVCD's it would be greatly appreciated

Finally are there any plans to re incorporate the Startup Delays for the Video, Audio1 and Audio2 in the bbMPEG tab?

I find this version for mke more user friendly

1. Never use smartripper, unless absolutely necessary.
2. Always use the latest version of DVD2SVCD.

You're _extremely_ lucky if that actually worked for you :p

I personally am not happy with the new DVD2SVCD owing to the fact that i can not easily adjust the Startup delay via the Svcd bbMPEG tab.

What about the people out there like me who want there audio and video in sync and need more than 5 sec Movie offset option?

In fact for people out there like me with the audio sync problem I
was experiencing with my Toshiba SD-2650 I would strongly suggest a downgrade to the 1.0.5 build 4 version due to the easy access of
the startup delay for the Video

And yes I tried the internal ripper and v strip in the new Dvd2Svcd
but the result was exactly the same as the SmartRipper.

My problem was obviously not the Ripping process.

@ Dont know,

i own a sd220E dvd player & have this audio/video out of synchro (about half a second).
There is a trick for this player & maybe yours too.
use the "angle" button on the remote to selet audio2, wait for 1 or 2 seconds then back to audio1, press enter & that's it.
It worked for all svcds i tried.

Concerning the bbmpeg tab on last dvd2svcd version, i don't understand what u mean cos u can change the audio & or video delay just by entering the value u want:eek:

I´ve seen several times that the Moderator replies messages by saying that such question has already been discussed over and over, and while I don't want to break the forum rules, and since I've already made a search for this topic, I've found no satisfactory solution to the audio sync problem. So here is my problem, and if there is already a post, would someone point me in the right direction?

I am using DVD2SVCD with CCE in a Pentium IV 2.4Ghz 30Gb HDD with 512 DDR RAM and it works superb. Just one problem... audio is not synced (or however you write it) on any disk, 1, 2 or 3 or whatever, neither while playing on the PC with WinDVD or PowerDVD, nor while playing on a standalone player (Philco, can't recall the model number)... Sorry I can't include the log.txt file but I erased it because I needed the disk space, and I have already burned the disks... They have very good video and audio quality but they are not synced. While I had the files on my computer, I tried several things, like changing the offset in bbMPEG, trying to make VCD's instead of SVCD's, but I had the same problem. The thing is that I've seen solutions that include TMPGEnc, but I have CCE. Do both encoders "encode" equally? or do I have to install TMPGenc? Is it something else I've missed?

I hope this post does not upset anybody. I'm trying to backup my DVD collection because I got a scratched DVD (Episode I starwars) and I don't want to risk my DVD's anymore...

coyotezertuche it's bad form to tack onto another persons post with your own seperate problem. Also don't lecture us if you want help. Simply say in your own thread that you searched and couldn't find an answer that helps you.

Create your own thread and in it supply enough information to work with. Include everything that is required in the Mandatory post and that does inlclude a log file(don't have it recreate it). Also make sure to say what ripper you have used and if you happened to copy files from hard disk to hard disk or over the network before you encoded.

markrb, when you say copying from hdd to hdd or over a network before encoding, how abouth after the bin/cue is finished? I have had a problem with 2 finished movies with the first cd having sync problems but not the second. I have built a second system that I now use for DVD2SVCD but copy the bin/cues back to the first to burn. I have never had a sync problem before starting to use the new system. Specs are P4 2.4 with 512m of PC3200. Running 2 - 60g IBM GXP 180's in Raid-0. DVD2SVCD v1.11c (I think, I am at work). I am going to start keeping the logs after conversion to track this down but I have not up to now. I figured the first was an anomally but now after the second I think I have a problem.

please disregard this. After finding another post that may be my problem. It alos started after switching to a Daewoo 5900 from the software player on my pc. I will have to do further tests to see if that is my problem.

Use decryptor instead of smart ripper, then when u go to dvd2svcd and open the ifo file that you created with decryptor. no more syncing problems! :-)

No. DVDDecrypter is nearly as notorious as Smart Ripper in combination with D2S. Never use either unless as an _absolute_ last resort.

UltimateDBZ is of course correct, but I would just say it slightly different. If you absolutely insist on using an external ripper as a case of last resort then use the newest DVDDecrypter instead of SMartripper.

After your encode is finished open bbmpeg, load the settings file DVD2SVCD created and change the movie offset to whatever you want. I tried it earlier and bbmpeg let me enter a value of 10 seconds for the offset. It's worth a try. :)
