Friends Season 1 - Messed up video

I am trying to do the Friends Season1 CD1 at the moment and no matter what I do, the video is wierd. It has horizontal lines going through the picture whenever something moves really quick. (almost like a mouse trail type of look)

I have tried just ripping the episode off with Smartripper (no re-encoding). I have tried DVD2DVDR, I have tried DVD2SVCD and I have tried manually re-encoding with CCE.

They all have the same results.

Anyone have any ideas?

Ok, someone told me that this may be due to interlacing??

I have only previewed the episodes on my computer (I always preview the DVD before I burn it). Does this mean that it will look ok on my TV even though it looks like crap on my computer monitor?

If I do need to deinterlace it, what can I use for that?

Is there no one here that knows about deinterlacing movies?

I tried to play it on my TV last night and the lines were still there.. well, kinda

There is a setting in my DVD player that lets me change between different progressive scan modes..
Auto
Smart
Video 1
Video 2
Film

If I change it to Video1 it looks fine (Auto, Smart and Film show the lines) but I would like to fix this video so that I do not have to do that everytime I put in this one DVD.
