ffdshow 13122002 and subtitles in black part of the movie...

Hi, i recently discover ffdshow and decided to give it a try...........now, i think is the best, but there is one thing that i couldn´t make it work........maybe is me or the program does not support this feature....hope someone could help me.
I´ve made a standard 640x272 xvid movie, and i want to see subtitles not in the "movie area".....i want to see them in the black area below the movie.....i´ve moved the "vertical position" slider to "100%" but it´s relative to the "movie area", not relative to the PC screen.......
What i ask is if possible to achieve this with ffdshow??? how???

I think you cant yet.But I prefer them to be in movie area because no matter how much I will zoom the movie the subs will stay in focus

I disagree with that, but if this can be set, lets say 150%, everybody is happy......

If you have directx9 inststalled you could also try mediaplayerclassic(by gabest).Overlaying subs goes up to 110%,even with yv12 encodings....

Thanks drebel, but i changed to ffdshow because of that.....i do NOT plan install DX9 or WXP for the time being...
I tried MPC and i think that it´s excellent, but until Milan can´t change that, i am looking for options....

PS. ZoomPlayer and BSPlayer are NOT options either. ZoomPlayer need vobsub installed and BSPlayer ini files does not always work.

you can do that with dvobsub, in the "general" tab of dvobsub config, select "extend to 4:3" in the vertical padding dropdown ;)

Another way, a little more CPU intensive:

Activate the "resize" tab and resize to a 4:3 resolution, in your case 640*480. Check "keep original aspect ratio".

Now the subs are displayed relative to the resized resolution, and will be put in the black bars.

Oh, to minimize CPU usage, set "resizing method" to "none".

@Didée : Thanks a lot for your advise, but nothing happens when i resize to 640x480......mm...........don´t know why....maybe i am doing something wrong....
The Resize checkbox is ticked, the Specify Size-->New Size is set to 640x480, in Resize If is Resize Always, in Aspect Ratio is set Keep Original Aspect Ratio 2.35:1........what else do you want me to check???

@Didée : Thanks to you too for your help, but what is dvobsub??? is an MPC option??? because i don´t find it

Hi ppl, Didée was right, that´s the way, but he forget to mention check the box in "Subtitles" that says "Process whole image"........that does the trick!!! he he he.......now i am happy!!!

@Safai : Thanks anyway with your great help, but, as i mentioned before, i am trying to avoid Vobsub.......ffdshow can handle subtitles, MPC handles subtitles too.......installing another program for the same thing don´t look reasonable, but REALLY thanks anyway.

no problem... but will that method uses up a lot more CPU cycles? while vobsub do it "for free"? i'm saying that 'cuz i have a slow system... :o maybe i should try that too :confused:
