View Full Version : Audio Sync Loss & Frame rate

I have ripped at least 50 movies, so I would like to think I know a little about ripping DVDs. I have two questions. I hope someone can help me.

1) Why is it that when I do a force fil > 23.976 it writes the .d2v file as 23975? When it does this any movie more than 1h 20mins long gradually goes out of sync, and I have to manually go into Virtual Dub and tell it 23.976 frames.

2) On two movies Waiting to Exhale and Stephen Kings The Stand, it will be right on sync until it hits a specific frame, then its like the movie is now a different frame rate, because the audio will now be off. Its not gradual, like when sync loss is caused by frame rate. Its abrupt and immediate. Can someone tell me how I can fix this?

When you say it writes the d2v file at 23.975 where do you see that?? Are you opening it in something?

I have used it to re-encode to mpeg-2 using CCE and AVIsynth or TMPEGenc, and so far I haven't noticed any audio sync issues (knock on wood). I think I just did a 2 hour movie too.

Yeah, if you open the .d2v project in a text editor, it shows you the frame rate.

I think this thread answers your question.

Also explains why I haven't seen the problem since I'm using 1.76

Wasn't the STAND a tv movie? Are you sure it is progressive and you can even use force film with it?? Typically tv movies are interlaced when they distribute them on dvd.

I'm going to try 1.76 on something today and see what the file looks like....
