I just purchased the ADVC-100 Converter and I am kind of stuck on how to capture the video from my VCR I am not sure what software to use and how. Can anyone please help?

some people reported that they sucked video from
firewire port with premiere.....
i don't have that device,but i suggest you do search on
this forum and on canopus site/forum....

any program that supports firewire transfer and knows how to
write down DV .avi will do........
(so VD is out of question it seems..pitty!hehe)

Hi Mojo,

Premiere can be a bit tricky for capturing from ADVC-100 as it tends NOT to recognize the ADVC and you´ll have to "switch on and off" a little bit.

Ulead Videostudio > 5.0 works fine with ADVC100 but can only capture DV AVI type 1 (= audio and video stream merged and hard to edit in VDub).

I use Scenalyzer Live (no freeware) and the Mainconcept DV codec with great success. It captures to DV AVI type 2 without drops.
DV AVI type 2 is much easier to edit as audio and video stream are captured seperately.

I also used the WinXP moviemaker for capturing but I´m not shure which DV AVI type this crap captures.

I successfully captured the VHS tape and re-encoded it with TMPGenc then authored it with Spruce up however the final product is kind of jerky when played on DVD player. The picture looks fine when the action is still but when the people on the tape start to run or move quickly its kind of jerky looking any reason for that?
