I use Nero to burn my svcd files that are created from dvd2svcd. The issue I ran into the other day was, I ripped Sum Of All Fears and I then proceeded to burn it at full speed and for my media at the time that was at 16x. I normally burn at 4x.I was kinda in a hurry that day.

I gave it to my buddy who has played many of my other svcds ripped at 4x and the 16x was all horizontally out of wack. Now mind you I tested these same disks on my dvd player before giving them to him and they were fine?My player is a Phillips and his is an Apex. Could the faster burn maybee could have caused issues with his player not being able to read them properly? Could it have done something to the disk that I am not aware of that burning faster might do? I changed NO settings in DVD2SVCD and created the movie in the same encoding settings as well. I can't figure out what could have happened?

Is it safe to burn any movie fast or should you burn it as slow as possible. I also have read other places that the slower your burn the more heat build up is created. I actually have removed dvd's from my dvd player that felt like frying pans... I now have a fan on the player but it didn't affect the dvd nor the player? Is heat an issue when burning slower?

I thank you for your time today...Have a great NEW YEAR!!!:D

I burn also on the maximum speed, and never had any problem.

@Zhnujm:

Unless your getting buffer under runs, and the resulting gaps in the cd with burnproof, the speed doesn't matter.

If your relying too heavily on burnproof you will end up with dodgier cds, that won't be read properly on some devices. Remember burnproof is a "last resort" or a safety net, you don't want it to be used if you can avoid it.
