i riped both dvds to hd then renamed the second dvds vobs starting after the last vobs of dvd1 ... problem is dvd2avi will only load nine :( and there are 13... any ideas ?

well that was gay the resulting file was way out of sync

Ther are 2 ways that I figured out. You rename the vobs to 01, 02, 03 and so on then it'll load them in the correct order. THe other solution is to use dvd decryptor and change the file splitting to none and just have 1 huge ass vob file.

When I ripped LOTR EX, I ripped each disc, and had SmartRipper demux the audio and video stream. Then I had one large M2V file for each disc. Then, you can add both of them together in DVD2AVI, and you can use an AC3 audio program to add the 2 AC3 files together, you must also specify that the frame rate is 23.976 in Virutal dub if you are doing it from the american version. The movie is so long that the 23.975 that DVD2AVI writes it out with makes the audio lose sync gradually as you go the end of the movie. YOu could also just do each disc seperately, and burn them on the same disc. If you are doing Divx, thats what I did as well as a test.

i made 2 ac3 files with dvd2avi before putting the second dvds vobs in with the first dvds vobs then joined the ac3s and made a new d2v with all the vobs.. hope it works

If you used Scenarist, as I do, you could just put a post jump from the first video stream to the second and then author it that way. Just a thought.

I just tried encoding this version (R1, NTSC), joining the two DVDs into a single 2.1GB .avi file, which I've split into 3 CDs.

Audio is apparently in sync throughout.

Encoding suite: GKnot 0.27 with DivX 5 and VBR MP3 sound.
Ripping method: DVD Decryptor (Gknot), eliminating the final chapters of each disc (Disc 1 last chapter = "insert next dvd, Disc 2 last chapter also useless).
Joining method: DVD2AVI "add" command, with each DVD's .vob files in separate folders.

Startling discovery: 5 black frames magically appeared between the end of the first DVD's video frames and the start of the second. There were no 0-length chapters and these frames did not appear in either the last vob of disc 1 or the first of disc 2.

Audio in second half was out-of-sync.

Solution: edited trim command to eliminate those 5 frames. Did not touch audio.

Trim(0,last frame of disc 1)+Trim(first frame of disc 2,end-credits-start).

EDIT: I used Force FILM. If you do a manual IVTC, you'll need to carefully edit and/or move the trim command.
