View Full Version : Convolution3D SMP optimizations: hyperthreading too?

In theory would this be the kind of optimization that would take advantage of the new P4's hyperthreading ability? I'm willing to do a little experimentation when I return to school. Does anyone know if disabling and re-enabling hyperthreading in the BIOS counts as two hardware changes, as defined by Microsoft?

I think moving this into General Discussions might have been a bad idea. :-/

Request the moderator to move it to Development if you prefer. It was off-topic for Avisynth.

It may require detailed information about the inner-workings of convolution3d. I'm not aware that vlad travels anywhere else outside of the Avisynth forum.

Hi John,
I simply don't know if HyperThreading could be a good thing for Convolution3D as I don't have this kind of CPU.
But you should have a look in the avisynth forum. I posted a new version of C3D and with this you'll be able to force or disable SMP so testing and benchmarking should be easier.
I think we should continue this discussion in the C3D for avisynth2.5 thread, thanks in advance.

Thanks, agreed. I'm very fortunate this was still probably on the first page in the avisynth forum, or you would have probably never responded. :(
