i'm using dvd workshop to try to burn a home movie onto a dvd-r. i used adobe premiere to capture the video from my sony dv camcorder. i then exported it as "dv avi"... then used tmpgenc 2.59 to convert the avi to mpeg2. now when i try to open the file in ulead dvd workshop, it doesn't see it. basically i can't open the file. tmpgenc saved the file as a .m2v file... is this what is was suppossed to convert it to? i'm getting frustrated because i can't get workshop to open it, and i'd like to use this program instead of the moviefactory program. any help would be much appreciated, thanks :)

I dont know how to help but i can tell you that a friend works only with it and his stuff plays on my machine.
If you have an older machine or useing funky media that may be ur problem.
I know that isnt any help but it the best i can do :-/

m2v files don't contain any audio.

I use DVD workshop with no problems.

As an experiment, have you tried renaming the file as a *.mpg format ?

To convert to mpeg2 format, I use Pure Motion "Edit Studio" This has the Main Concept encoder as a plug in.

Both programmes are available for free trials (the mpeg2 encoder puts on a watermark), but at least you can see if it works.

i think DVDWorkshop wants you to create a Program Stream (System Stream) which you can easily get out of tmpg when you are encoding, also use the multiplexing in MPEG tools for already encoded files.
