further experiments today have got me a good looking file at 4650 kbps average on a vbr.

at the moment when I frameserve to tmpgenc I produce a mpg file. would I be better off seperating it as it offers in an m2v and an mp2 file for sound and video?

if so why?

second, if I have 3:2 pulldown and 16:9 display set on tmpgenc, do I really need to run pulldown.exe?

third, sound was recorded stereo analogue. can I make it identify as 5.1 on the amp? and then I can use the processing mode on the amp to give me pseudo rears.

all the good authoring programs require the video/audio separate.

keep the stream as 2.0 and let your amp interpret it as "Dolby Pro Logic" , which will give you a pseudo 3/1 (L, C, R, S)

if you are talking about ntsc --

i havent used tmpgenc for mpeg2 in a long while.. but if its the same as it was in past versions.. '3:2 pulldown when playback' is the same as pulldown.exe

so no. you wouldnt have to run it.. not for telecide anyways.. there are other options in pulldown.exe ..
