The MSI TV@nywhere, The Problems

Not that I am bitching at the card, it seems quite good so far.

The quality is good and captures from Digital Satellite look very nice when they are encoded and stuck on SVCD.


Problems are as follows:
The remote doesn't work at all, I heard it doesn't work with WinXP SP1 but I have got Win2k SP3

It only will capture in iuVCR (with out doing a registry fix) at maximum 720x480 (NTSC) where as I have set the jumpers on the card to PAL-I and selected PAL-I in the settings and the card detects 625 lines, but still, I can't capture at 625 lines with out fiddling. Saying that, the built in software WinDVR (MSI PVS) from interVideo seems to capture at this high res but only because it has a preset for PAL.

Is there any way to stop WinDVR de-interlacing a source because it is de-interlaced terribly, it uses a simple blend whereas Telecine or other Progressive Scan de-interlacing methods are ideal for my source.

I get these weird fuzzy areas between greatly contrasting colours which I used not to get with my 8-bit card, I heard, because of the fancy new 10-bit decoder, it deals with things like this a lot better. Saying that, things like white on black (credits roll) look much better, they dont go all multi-coloured on me.



Will some third-party drivers be released, for the CX2388x chipset because I know none are avalible as is. Possible released in a future version of BTWINCAP (the generic drivers) but as BT is now Conexant, CXWINCAP(?)?

Sorry to hear you are having trouble,

I can't help you much with your first three problems:
- I have not even taken the remote out of the plastic
- I live in North America (NTSC)
- I don't use WinDVR or even have it installed

Hmmm, about the "fuzzy" artifacts, maybe post a screenshot. Compared to my old ATI, I find that this card picks up every detail..thus, if you have a not-so-great source (like me) you may have to do some post filtering. I personally like this approach, because I have more bits to work with, but it may not be so great for those record-and-burn types.

There should be some third party drivers eventually, as this chip appears to have a bright future. For now, maybe try the prolink ones (should be easy to find on google) to see if you have better luck with your source. (I don't know if the tuner part will work with these out of the box though..I don't use it)

Thx:) - and I notice all of the 'blue' language, i will sort that out now... never noticed it before... but anywho

presently, the card has died on me again (the second time now), all works but it wont accept the Crossbar drivers. It says: where is cxbar.sys something something located. I point it to the right place but it doesn't accpet it.

Sadly no. I suggest you try Ulead VideoStudio 6 instead.
It is a much better program and you can turn deinterlacing on and off with it.
