Hello.
First, i apologise for my english, i'm not very good,
i hope i'll be clear enough.
I'll share my problem i've got with CCE 2.66.01.07 (later,
i'll only said 2.66) and Scenarist 2.6.
I've encoded an mpeg file for making a DVD, and import
it in scenarist. The file import properly. The file also
play correctly. Everything seems to be fine, until, after
my authoring, i start the multiplex process for making
the VOB, and here the troubles begin.
So, i start the process, it makes my vob, everything seems
ok, until i check the vob, and they where a total mess.
There were video artefacts on some places, artefacts not
present in the orignal MPEG file.
I delete all the files, i make it again, and there were
artefacts, but NOT in the same place than before.
I start it a third time, and then, Scenarist stop before
the end, telling there is a problem in the MPEG file, and
it can't multiplex the VOB.
I've try several times, and never it does the same thing/
error !! I've also rebout, in case, beatwen each try.
I re-encoded my MPEG file, with the same exact parameters,
and... my result was a file not the exact size than the
previous one !! Wich is anormal. 20ko for 1.4Go, it's not
big, but, the files may have been exactly the same, bit
by bit.
Same kinds of problem with this new encoded file in
scenarist !!
Another anoying thing with the file generated with the
2.66 version : I often check my files with a program
called Bitrateview, wich allow to see the bitrate curves
and the peaks. Having a peak at more than 10000kb, on
a multipass VBR with average of 5400kb and min/max 0-9500kb
is not also a good thing.
In the end, i've finished by re-encoded my files with
the 2.64.01.10 version, and at this moment, everything
have been fine. The VOB multiplexing process was done
correctly.
In the end, it seems that the integrity of the files
generated by the 2.66 version was not totaly good, or
these is still some bug/problem.
The more strange, it's i've already done 2 previous DVD
with MPEG files encoded with the 2.66 version, and there
has been no problem with them, but this third have make
appeared a problem. So, i strongly suggest to the users
of the 2.66 version to go back to the 2.64, i've make a
lot of DVD with this version, never having problem. And it
respect more properfully the limit !
It's sad, in this new version they said they have increase
the quality of picture, but if the results MPEG files
are not usables...
The problem may be minor, because they play correctly,
but, when multiplexing with scenarist, there is a problem.
Even if it's possible, i don't think the problem came from
scenarist. I probability, i think it's CCE 2.66.
Or...... the patcher introduce a problem in the 2.66
version...
