Hey, I'm new to the fourm at posting, and have a quick question...

Well I have the old fashioned Pioneer dv-525, and everytime I play an original dvd disc or one of my burned dvd-r's, the playback is never in correct aspect ratio. My TV or DVD player, one of the two, stretches the picture making faces look long at times. My TV is not a widescreen TV, but it is pretty new. This problem has been going on ever since we bought this dvd player about 3 years ago, but when I used to burn svcds, the aspect ratio would somehow always play correctly. Its just the original dvd discs and dvd-r movies that cause problems. Is there any kind of settings ont he TV or DVD player that could fix this problem? Thanks a lot

I came across this with the same pioneer drive. There is a setting in the DVD players menu to fix it up, something liek 4:3 widescreen or something.

I'll go hunt down one of these players and get back to you with the exact settings.

Sorry about the delay.

You will need the remote for the Pioneer DVD-525

1) Press setup on the remote.

2) Move into the "video" menu.

3) Go down to "TV Screen" and select "4:3 Letter Box".

And all is done. I can't remember if it's an instant adjustment or if you have to turn the DVD player on/off afterwards.

Good luck.
