using vStrip, DVD2AVI 1.76, CCE 2.5. All settings at default except Audio not downsampled. AMD T-bird 1100, 256MB W98. The output on my DVD player looks like a perfect square stuck to the left side of the screen. 480x480.
Is DVD2SVCD set up do rip 16:9 default, and I have to change something to get a 4:3 NTSC to rip and burn as a 4:3 NTSC?

Read the Q&A, notably Q11. Also, do a search, there's been quite a few topics about incorrect ratios.

I read the Q+A, but I still don't get it. I set the aspect ratio at 4:3 when I ripped, and when I play it on my computer it's no problem. It looks perfect there. The problem is that when I burn to a CD with Nero 5.5, Nero says there's a problem with non-standard specifications.
The following problems were found:
-MPEG-2 instead of MPEG-1
-invalid stream: 29.97 frames per second, 480x480 pixels
-invalid audio stream: 48000 Hz, 2 channels
I'm using a software DVD player and it's playing the muxed files just like they were 4:3, not in a square. Could it be a problem with Nero?

Wait a second, you're not supposed to use Nero's built-in VCD/SVCD ability. That's the whole point of the cd images that DVD2SVCD creates, is to avoid this. All you have to do is open up Nero, choose Burn Image, and select the .cue for each of the discs.

It's Alive!
You rock. Blessings on your family and your house, and may your children be as numerous as the sands of the desert, and your house last ten thousand years.

LOL! Thanks for the blessings, I suppose, but really a simple "Thanks" would've been enough, but hey, my house living ten thousand years sounds good enough to me :D
Anyway, glad it's working for you now :)
