Trouble eliminatating large 1 frame dots

Hi all,

The source I'm trying to encode is rather poor and I get random dots appearing on frames, for only a single frame. Attached is an example. (I have compressed the image to jpg to save on bandwidth)

I can't seem to remove these dots. I'm tried a lot of temporal filters with everything from smallish values to image destryoing values and none of them seem to touch it.

Should I be using something other than temporal filters for these largish kind of dots that blink in, then blink out?

You could try the "sandwich" filter posted here some time ago.

Thanks for pointing me that way sh0dan.

I gave it a try and it did a good job of removing most of those dots but it also caused a tremendous amount of artifacts whenever any sort of contrasting colors moved against each other.

So all in all it seems better to live with the dots. Maybe I can say they add a certain nostalgic charm... ;)

You could try SansGrip's FluxSmooth - from my understanding of the algorithm it could help remove those pixels?
