1st let me say that I truly appreciate all the help and knowledge you have offered. Your guides and how to's have covered everything and I will be making a donation.
I have tried to research this problem thoroughly so if I have missed the answer in your FAQs and searches, you have my apologies. My cue/bin burns are out of audio sync every time (which includes the foolproof method). I can mount a virtual drive with Daemon and PowerDVD plays back flawlessly. This is what is frustrating because everything appears to work so beautifully. The bbmpeg files burn and playback fine but of course I lose the control advantages.
System info: AMD XP-2000, 786mb RAM, plenty of harddrive, Pioneer DVR-104, Win 2000 w/sp3.
I burn w/Nero 5.5.9.9., I have tried cheap to expensive media. My stand alones are Apex AD-1200 and Philips DVD825 w/the hack upgrade. The example movie is Lord Of The Rings, r1, ntsc.

If it plays back fine with Daemon and PowerDVD, then it must be your standalone(s). Check http://www.vcdhelp.com to see what they have to say about your models.

I have checked w/vcdhelp and there are mixed reviews about the Apex 1200 compatibility w/SVCD. Actually I purchased it when I stumbled upon VCD but prior to acquiring SVCD as my format of choice. As a sidebar, the LOTR example I mentioned in my original post disk 1 is out of sync from the start while disks 2 and 3 play perfectly in the Apex. I guess we are not dealing with exact science? Thanks again.

I hade the same problem with audio out of sync. In my case it helped to uncheck all boxes that has to do with "Title picture, Change cd picture, last cd picture". Now I have only the boxes VCDX-build and DVD-chapters checked in the cd-image catalogue. And it works perfect for me.

You have those alternative checked according to your log that you have sent.

Hope it works out for you. It did for me.

Hello!

Its a known issue with some Apex standalone player that the audio will be out of sync if you have a menu with MPEG Stills _before_ your main movie. As you said that all except the first CD worked fine, i´m quite sure that this is your problem, since the titlepic is a kind of menu with MPEG Stills.

You have 2 options:
-uncheck titlepic in dvdsvcd, you can leave changecd and last cd checked
-use a short motion MPEG as titlepic.

You can also use
d2sccd (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=40374) to add an audiostream to your MPEG Still. (about this point i´m not really sure, but you may try it if you nevertheless want to keep the title pic)

hope this helps,

winxi

ps: i think this sounds like exact science, btw its always better to post all the information in the first post. For example the only relevant information for your problem was "apex" and "all but first work". ;)

My reply about this being exact science was a little tounge in cheek and I hoped I might slip by without being caught on it. I did not include all the relevant information in my original post and I offer my apologies. Your advice about adjusting the settings on the CD Image tab worked to the benefit of the Apex but the Philips is still noticably out of sync. Could be media, etc but at least I have one standalone on which my backups play well. Thanks again and another piece of my learning curve is filled in.
