Purple Lines throughout image

Hello ^^
I just got myself a Leadtek WinFast A250leTD MyVIVO 128mb

I had trouble capturing without dropping huge amounts of frames, so I found a thread about changing the nvcap.inf file to read "HKR,,VideoStandard,,PAL" instead of "HKR,,VideoStandard,,NTSC"

which worked all well (Took a bit to get it going first of all, it didnt WANT to change but then finally did after many reboots)
captured fine, all good..

Left it for 2 weeks, installed nothing changed nothing

now when I try to capture I have all these Purple thin lines running through the image, even when nothing is playing and it is just the VCR's blue screen. They arent there when the VCR is off, so I thought maybe it was the VCR. Nope it isnt because I tried the other VCR in the house with the same results, so maybe I thought it was some kind of interferance? I got some cables and managed to get my VCR 15meters away (into the next room) from my machine, it did absolutely nothing.

Not even reverting back to the original WDM helps (NTSC)

Im not sure what is going on but everything was good and peachy 2 weeks before :(
Tried removing and installing drivers sooo many times

oh yes, nearly forgot, every driver I am using is from leadtek's site all the latest

W2K_ALL_21029.exe - Video Driver
WDMDRV_21029.exe - WDM I am using, which i think is v1.19

I am thinking of grabbing the 1.22 that has come out and to try that, I dont know my luck because I am not sure it is drivers that are involved :(

Virtual Dub and Avi_io and leadtek's bundled application have the same results, still in overlay mode it shows the lines, see attached pic. They are hard to see but are much more noticeable throughout a capture with different lightings.

Me continuing to try and fix the problem by reinstalling drivers has caused something even worse to happen :(

Now not only do I get purple lines, I also get one big MASSIVE white bar through the image, it doesnt show in overlay only in preview and the capture :(

Okey, weird!

I looked at that picture, I thought it was two pictures waiting to load, then i noiteced the change between your white bar and the background. That is messed up.

What kind of way are you getting the source from the VCR (what video standard (PAL-I, PAL B/G...)
Has your VCR got an SVHS, Composite or are you breaking a SCART into composite? If so, is it a RGB signal?

Grab the new drivers, you can always uninstall them if they arn't working properly.

Check the condition of all of your cables, including the blue VIVO cable.

The card worked fine for me with no problems at all, the picture was pretty fine.

You can see that the quality aint bad after you get it going, but those Purple Lines are a total myth.

I am using composite, I can't use anything otherwise :(
I live in Australia, so I do need to change the nvcap file to PAL, but I just put PAL and nothing else there as it was an option? Although, when I use the default straight out of box NTSC WDM, or even the latest, I still get the purple lines plus that white box =\

Its strange actually, the box comes up about 3 seconds after I play the vhs tape, but when i push stop, and wait about 3 seconds, it disapears?

I dunno :(

Actually today I reformatted (I could have done with it anyway), installed XP, then SP1..and every problem I have spoken of still happens. Even a complete reformat didnt fix it -_-

I will keep playing around with it....maybe it is a faulty cable? I actually had it working when i first got it, it just dropped frames.
Gave up for about 2 weeks, tried again and thats when it was buggy :(
I keep my stuff in good condition to, not just throw it around and such :(

Do you get the purple lines when you capture too? Or just on the preview?
When I start up Vdub (or any other capturing app) and have the VCR turned on (but not playing a tape) I too get lines that look like yours. However, when I capture that blue screen, the lines do not show on the captured video file. Have you tried capturing the VCR's "blue screen" and verified that the lines are actually captured?

They show in overlay mode but are a bit harder to see, when I switch to preview they are a bit more visable.
When I capture I get that white band across the image, though it doesnt ALWAYS do that. I wouldn't have a clue why @_@

The purple lines are still apparent in the captured content but are often hard to see because of all the colours in the video, I did a test and a VerticalReduceby2 helps to get rid of alot of it(avisynth stuff ^^).

I was trying to explain that you should capture the *VCR's blue screen* (or its setup menu or similar) and see if you get the purple lines on the captured file. I didn't suggest you should capture while a video tape is playing, since then it wil be hard to see if the lines are there or not.
